Do you need help defending your rights as a consumer?
CEC-Spain provides information and assistance to help consumers residing in Spain when they encounter problems with cross-border purchases made in another EU country, Iceland, Norway, or the United Kingdom.
Requirements for submitting a complaint
- Be of legal age.
- Reside in Spain.
- Have made a purchase from a company based in another EU country (other than Spain), or in Iceland, Norway, or the United Kingdom.
- The purchase must be for non-commercial purposes.
- Have previously submitted a written complaint to the company.
- Not have initiated legal proceedings or arbitration.
- Have documentary evidence to support the complaint.
CEC-Spain does not handle complaints related to
- Criminal offenses (fraud, scams, etc.): contact law enforcement authorities or the judicial system.
- Purchases between private individuals.
- Business-to-business transactions.
- Domestic purchases (residents in Spain buying from companies based in Spain).
- Cross-border purchases from non-EU third countries such as Andorra, China, the U.S., Switzerland, etc.
- Consumers residing in another EU country (other than Spain), or in Norway or Iceland — contact the ECC of the country of residence.
